Police discover clandestine line for counterfeiting pickles
As a result of a number of raids designed to identify offences committed by economic entities, the police discovered a ghost-company that was counterfeiting pickled cucumbers in Briceni.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 180 tones of pickled cucumbers worth over one million lei were found in a storehouse that belonged to the mayor’s office of Tabani village, Briceni district.
During the search, the owner of the mini-factory could not present documents allowing him to carry out such an activity and juridical documents for leasing the room.
The businessman is liable to a fine of 10,000 to 20,000 lei or imprisonment of up to two years under article 241 of the Penal Code – performing of illegal entrepreneurial activities.
