Police come closer to villages

The project “Neighborhood Surveillance”, by which the General Police Inspectorate aims to bring the people closer to the police and encourage them to have an active civic attitude and contribute to the discovery of offenses, was launched in Micauti village of Straseni district, which is the native place of the Inspectorate’s deputy head Gheorghe Cavcaliuc.

Contacted by IPN, mayor of Micauti Vasile Dolghii said the safety and security level in the community will grow. Not only Micauti, but also the state will enjoy benefits as offenses will be prevented.

According to the General Police Inspectorate’s press officer Natalia Bucur-Bandas, there are cases that cannot be solved because there is no evidence, but the locals most often know details. By this project, the Inspectorate aims to sensitize the people and make them cooperate with the police in solving cases of theft, crime and rape.

The General Police Inspectorate counts on exchange of confidence between police officers and inhabitants of their native villages. “The administration decided to start with the native places. All the police officers will go to their native villages within this project. Their credibility among the people will thus increase,” Natalia Bucur-Bandas stated for IPN.

The project “Neighborhood Surveillance” is implemented in 12 districts and is to be extended.
