The National Police launched the "taxi" operation that will last for ten days and will cover the whole territory of the Republic of Moldova. The main purpose of the operation is to reduce the number of road accidents and improve road safety, IPN reports.

The police will check the technical condition of taxicabs and the compliance with road traffic legislation by drivers.

The 69 road accidents involving taxi cars that occurred on the national roads so far this year resulted in five deaths and 47 people injured.

The police urge taxi drivers to pay close attention to the technical condition of the vehicles and to obey traffic rules.
