A police car was involved in a road accident in the capital city. Spokeswoman for the Chisinau Police Division Natalia Stati told IPN that the information about the collision at the intersection of Tighina and Bucharest streets was received at 11:28 p.m. on Monday.

Natalia Stati said that the accident involved a car of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, driven by a 27-year-old man, who was traveling on Tighina St, and a car driven by a man of the same age, who was traveling on Bucharest St.

The police car had the beacon light on. Neither of the two drivers was intoxicated, the press officer said.

The impact was so strong that the cars were considerably damaged, and the driver and passenger in the police car were hospitalized for medical examinations.

"An investigation was initiated on the case to establish all the circumstances of the accident and the driver to blame, by holding this accountable in accordance with the law," said Natalia Stati.
