Police buys alcohol testers from Germany

The police will purchase 20 alcohol testers from Germany. “Till earlier next week, I think the devices will be distributed to road police officers,” the head of the Road Police Division, Grigore Guzun, told a news conference on May 26, Info-Prim Neo reports. Authorized labs will also be entitled to test the drivers for alcohol, the ranking police officer said. “If you get drunk into the hands of a policeman with such a device, you have no mercy. Neither the policeman can make any tricks with it, since the device issues a receipt indicating the date, time, volume of expired air and the percentage of the alcohol in that air. The corrupting element will thus be eliminated,” Guzun stated. The Code defines a driver to be driving under the influence of alcohol if the blood alcohol content (BAC) is between 0.2 g/l and 0.8 g/l, and breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is between 0.1 mg/l and 0.4 mg/l; and driving under the strong influence of alcohol if BAC and BrAC are greater than 0.8 g/l and 0.4 mg/l, respectively.
