Police arrest six young men suspected of torturing and robbing families

Six young men were arrested by the police on suspicion that they tortured and robbed a number of families from different districts. These broke into homes, tied the owners, tortured them and stole things. During searches at suspects’ homes, the police found pistols, knives, mobile phones, clothes and other objects.

According to the National Investigations Inspectorate, the young men are suspected of breaking into the home of a family from Inesti village of Telenesti district at the beginning of this year. They ill-treated the husband and wife and then stole 70,000 lei and a 9.18 caliber pistol “Baical 442” with three cartridges, held legally.

Another two cases happened in Soroca district, where the culprits entered a house in Rudi village and, threatening the owner with a gun, tied him and stole four mobile phones, a tablet PC, 1,000 lei, clothes and other goods. In the same district, a woman from Slobozia village, was tied, beaten and threatened with a knife. The thieves took the golden earrings from her ears and disappeared.

The suspects are aged between 19 and 23 and are from Telenesti district. Five of them were earlier tried for theft. They face up to ten years behind bars.
