The police Friday arrested a criminal group consisting of six persons, who robbed houses. Chiril Motpan, head of the Ministry of the Interior’s Public Relations Division, told a news conference that the suspects are being questioned in a number of cases of burglary and theft, Info-Prim Neo reports. Ion Iachimov, who heads the Ministry’s Crime Combating Division, said the group usually robbed the apartments of leaders of agricultural associations. Upon a search of the house, the police found and seized objects that were used to commit robberies, including guns, mobile phones, masks, articles for breaking the locks, as well as computers, golden jewels and other stolen objects. According to Ion Iachimov, the members of the group are native of Ialoveni, Chisinau and Soroca and are aged between 23 and 55. All the six suspects were earlier tried for thefts, robberies, drug-related offences and even murder. The group is suspected of involvement in six burglaries. The police are to establish if they committed other crimes as well, including the robbery of the house of the director of Milestii Mici wine company. The men face jail terms of up to 15 years.
