Poland will continue to support Moldova on its path of European integration, but the official Chisinau must show consistency in the process of achieving this objective. “Moldova was a leader in the Eastern Partnership and should continue at the same pace,” Speaker (Marshal) of the Polish Senate Bogdan Borusewicz said in a meeting with Head of Parliament Andrian Candu in Vilnius, IPN reports, quoting the legislature’s press service.
In the meeting, the officials discussed the activity of the Moldova – Poland Parliamentary Assembly. In this connection, Candu said the forum will hold a meeting in Krakow this spring. The Moldovan and Polish MPs are to discuss both projects of bilateral interest and the implementation of the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement. The debates will involve by a representative of Transnistria and Gagauzia.
Andrian Candu confirmed the Moldovan authorities’ determination to continue to implement the reforms so as to come closer to the EU. “It’s time to switch from nice words to facts and to implement painful, but important reforms for the country,” he stated. He asked for Poland’s support in transferring good practices so as to help the Moldovan producers reorient themselves to the European markets.
Speaker Andrian Candu is taking part in the events staged in Vilnius on March 10-12 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the restoration of Lithuania’s independence.
