Poland wants to get Moldova closer to EU

“Poland cares for Moldova to be closer to the European Union. We support Moldova’s integration and we hope that the Agreement of Association with the EU will be signed next year at the Eastern Partnership Summit, which will take place in Vilnius, in November 2013”, said Deputy Senate Marshall Jan Wyrowiński during his meeting with Moldovan First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc, who traveled to Warsaw. He met his opposite numbers from both Chambers of the Polish Parliament: Vicemarshal of the Sejm Jerzy Wenderlich and Deputy Marshall of the Senate Jan Wyrowiński, Info-Prim Neo learned from a press release of the Parliament. The First Deputy Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament stressed that this support was more important as Poland enjoyed considerable influence within the EU and was a co-initiator of the Eastern Partnership. “I’d say Poland is the locomotive of EU’s enlargement eastwards. We’re interested in learning from your experience because the success of integration in EU will depend on eliminating gaps in development and in the life standards of people in Moldova”. The Moldovan official thanked his opposite numbers for the constant assistance for Moldova provided by Poland. “We appreciate that despite the economic crisis, Poland will continue to support especially local development in our country, showing solidary with the Moldovan citizens”. As regards the economic relations between the two states, the First Deputy Speaker received an encouraging message from his Polish colleagues, who appreciated positively the conditions created for foreign investors in Moldova. Currently, at least 17 Polish-owned companies are successfully doing business in Moldova. Vlad Plahotniuc was invited to Poland by his opposite number in the Sejm Jerzy Wenderlich.
