Poland responds to Moldova’s appeal for help in alleviating drought effects

The Government of Poland offered help to Moldova in liquidating the effects of this summer’s drought. Polish Foreign Minister Ana Fotyga has recently met with Moldovan Ambassador to Poland Boris Gamurari to grant Moldova on behalf of the Polish Government a cheque worth $375,000. According to a press statement released by the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Minister Ana Fotyga said Poland will remain a loyal supporter of Moldova’s European aspiration. At the same time, the Polish official expressed her hope that our countries would further co-operate not just within the framework of the EU neighbourhood policy, but also in what concerns the effective integration into the EU organisation. Official estimates show that losses caused by this year’s drought amounted to roughly 12 billion lei.
