Poland backs Moldova in its European integration efforts
Poland will support Moldovan on the path to European intonation and will provide assistance in liberalizing the visa regime and in signing the Free Trade Agreement, Polish Sejm Marshal Grzegorz Schetyna said in a news conference given in Chisinau after the constitution of the Moldovan-Polish Parliamentary Assembly, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“A new stage started in the relations between Moldova and Poland. The relationship between the two countries is good and the relations between the EU and the countries covered by the Eastern Partnership, including Moldova, should be the same. While Poland will hold the presidency of the Council of the European Union, we will take steps to support Moldova in its European integration efforts and will offer assistance in the process of obtaining a liberalized visa regime and in negotiating the Free Trade Agreement,” said Grzegorz Schetyna.
Head of Parliament Marian Lupu said the initiative to set up the Moldovan-Polish Parliamentary Assembly emphasizes not only the strategic character of the bilateral relations, but also the strategic character in the European context.
“It is an initiative that will be of special importance for Moldova’s European integration efforts. Poland pledged to provide the support needed to switch over to the second phase of the plan of action for liberalizing the visa regime for Moldova. It will also assist us in signing the Association Agreement with the EU,” said Marian Lupu.
On July 25, the Parliaments of Moldova and of Poland instituted the Moldovan-Polish Parliamentary Assembly of the two countries which will represent a platform for providing support at political level and for experience exchange. The next meeting of the assembly will take place in Warsaw early next year.
