Poetry festival “Grigore Vieru” starts in Chisinau and closes in Iasi
The first International Poetry Festival in memory of poet Grigore Vieru will be held in Chisinau and Iasi between October 9 and 12 and will include performances of poetry and music, book launches, documentary exhibitions and colloquiums on the life and work of the late poet, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The event is organized by the Iasi-based publishing house Princeps Edit and the Writers Union of Moldova under the aegis of the Chisinau and Iasi City Halls, the Romanian Literature Museum and the Iasi Cultural Association “Feed Back”.
The festival will start in Chisinau on October 9-10 and will continue in Iasi on October 10-12. It will bring together more than 60 participants, guests of honor, friends and admirers of Grigore Vieru from Moldova, Romania, Bulgaria and Ukraine, the Chisinau City Hall says in a communique.
“Grigore Vieru” prizes will be awarded in the following divisions: debut in poetry, acclaimed poet, exegetist of Grigore Vieru's work, translator of Grigore Vieru's work, artistic performer of Grigore Vieru's poems and a special prize for sponsorship in the Romanian culture.
Writer Valeriu Matei has told Info-Prim Neo that the Grand Prize of the festival is worth about 800 euros.
