“Podul de flori” documentary to be premiered in New York

The documentary “Podul de flori” (“Flower Bridge”), which narrates the life of a Moldovan man, will premiere at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York during the Documentary Fortnight Festival that will take place between February 13 and 14, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting Agerpres. Romanian producer Thomas Ciulei’s movie will be screened during the two days of the festival, alongside another 35 documentaries from all over the world. “Podul de Flori” features a man from a Moldovan village whose wife went abroad to work. He has to look after his three children. The documentary focuses on the social phenomenon of labor force migration from Eastern Europe to the West, which seriously affects the integrity of families. The documentary is a Romanian-German co-production between Europolis Film, the Studio of Cinematographic Creation of the Romanian Ministry of Culture and Cilon Films Germania. It won the National Cinematography contest in 2005 and was produced in the spring of 2007, on a budget of 250,000 euros. Last year, the Romanian documentary was awarded the ARTE top prize for full-length documentary at the 32nd edition of the Duisburger Filmwoche film festival in Germany.
