The National Liberal Party (PNL) will not take part in the referendum on the dismissal of Dorin Chirtoaca from the post of mayor general of Chisinau municipality, the party’s leader Vitalia Pavlichenko stated in the program “Union Square” on Noroc TV channel, IPN reports.
Vitalia Pavlichenko said the referendum to dismiss Dorin Chirtoaca gave birth to tacit solidarity between the pro-European and pro-Romanian parties that could develop into an electoral coalition. “No pro-Romanian party or pro-European party can be near the left, near Igor Dodon or others because a number of parties will cooperate and it is not yet known if the referendum is successful or not. I proposed that we should think what we can do. It is already clear that we will not take part,” she stated.
Gheorghe Brega, ex-Deputy Prime Minister on behalf of the Liberal Party, said the referendum should be boycotted because this represents an agreement between Vladimir Plahotniuc and Igor Dodon. “It should be boycotted because the people who have certain logic know what the difference between 2007 and the period during which Dorin Chirtoaca held mayoralty is,” he stated, anticipating that the plebiscite will fail.
Unaffiliated Chisinau councilor Ion Stefanita said the referendum of November 19 is a game that was well planned by the Socialists and the Democrats and the Chisinau City Hall could be controlled by the Democratic Party in the future.
