PNL threatens Voronin with trial

The National Liberal Party (PNL) is indignant at the statements made by the leader of the Communist Party (PCRM) Vladimir Voronin and reminds that a case against him is to be examined by the ECHR. “The red leader probably wants cases over discrimination against a citizen to be opened against him,” the party says in a statement, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The statement was issued in reaction to what Vladimir Voronin said about the Moldovan citizen of African origin John Onoje. During the protests staged by the PCRM in the Great National Assembly Square on February 18, the Communist leader said the ruling alliance is defended only by John Onoje, who descended from trees now.
“The Moldovan citizen of African origin John Onoje, who is a member of the National Liberal Party, frequently protests against the Communists. This is his position of active citizen, to which he has the right according to the Constitution. But this thing provokes inadequate and condemnable reactions on the part of the Communists and the police. After John Onoje on February 18 protested against the participants in the event organized by the PCRM, the leader of this party publicly offended John Onoje, speaking ironically about his skin color and geographical origin,” said the PNL, adding Vladimir Voronin promotes thus racism.
The party also says that the Moldovan police resort to illegal activities against the protesters who seek the dissolution of Parliament. On February 19, John Onoje was treated rudely by the police when he was protesting in the central square of Chisinau. He was then taken to a police station, were he said he was mistreated and intends to ask for a medical examination. The PNL’s administration discussed with decision makers of the Ministry of the Interior, who said Onoje behaved aggressively towards the policemen.
The PNL said it will always defend its members and will provide assistance in the trails involving representatives of the state who misused their authority and violated the human rights and fundamental freedoms.
