The National Liberal Party of Romania (PNL) intends to increase its presence in Moldova given the high turnout of the Romanian voters living in Moldova at the Romanian presidential elections.
In a news conference at IPN on January 22, representatives of the PNL Romania said that they prepared a number of projects for Moldova. “Starting with today, we will make effort to be more present in Moldova following the developments after two rounds of voting, especially after the second round, when 35,000 people took part in the elections. This encouraged us to start to take steps at the beginning of the year,” said the representative of the PNL Romania in Moldova Radu Sorinca. “Owing to these votes and the high voter turnout among the Romanians from Bessarabia, Romania now has its first Liberal President in its history.”
The co-chairman of the PNL Diaspora Organization Victor Ionescu said that the second round of voting showed that the Romanians from outside the country, wherever they are, can contribute to the election of a new head of state. “Besides going to the polls and supporting our candidate – current President Klaus Iohannis – these mobilized considerably the voters from Romania, especially the families and relatives,” he stated.
He noted that the PNL Organization in Moldova is one of the most powerful. “It is a matter of tradition, history and culture as well. It is a normal and logical step taken to bring the Romanians from here together, as well as the Bessarabians who contributed to winning the elections one way or another and those who want to join the National Liberal Party of Romania,” he said.
The representatives of the PNL Thursday had the first meeting with Romanians who have their domicile in Moldova.
