The Leader of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Vitalia Pavlicenco expresses her concern regarding the politicised attempts of the Ukrainian authorities to hinder the participation of the Bloc of Iulia Timoshenko in the parliamentary elections in Ukraine. “Iulia Timoshenko was and still is one of the most important actors of the ‘Orange revolution’ which has with many difficulties led to essential democratic changes after the previous governments. Iulia Timoshenko proved that she is preoccupied with the major interest of the Ukrainian state to become member of NATO and the EU”, Vitalia Pavlicenco says in a statement quoted by Info-Prim Neo. According to her, the destiny of Moldova depends to a great extent on the situation and orientation of Ukraine, which supports us in the settlement of the Transnistrian dispute. “I am positive that the parties headed by Iulia Timoshenko and Victor Iushcenko are the political forces which are able to carry out the reforms necessary to Ukraine in order to become eligible for the integration into EU and NATO, which we would like to happen as soon as possible”, Pavlicenco emphasised. The leader of PNL considers that the Ukrainian supporters will manage to annul the decision on the refusal to admit the party of Iulia Timoshenko to the elections scheduled for September and will vote for the team of Timoshenko. “The former Soviet south-east Europe will be able to join the partners of the civilised European community only by the joint effort of the forces which support these goals and the democratic values”, Vitalia Pavlicenco concluded.
