Pneumonia cases rise due to temperature variations
The pulmonology departments in Moldova's hospitals are crowded. In 95% of the cases, the patients are admitted with different stages of pneumonia, Info-Prim Neo report.
Children are the most sensitive to temperature variations in this period. “In the last two weeks the demand for hospitalization increased so much that now we are facing the problem of free beds in the department”, said Ada Negru, pneumologist at the Center for Mother and Child.
The doctor recommends avoiding places with working air conditioners, because beside the temperature variations, the devices dry the air which favors the spread of pathogen agents. The rooms should not be cooled because this is how the inside temperature reaches the best thermal equilibrium with the outside.
“Even though temperature variations are the main reasons for seeing a doctor in the last two weeks, another reasons include inadequate nutrition, stress and poor attendance of children”, Ada Negru added.
The doctor recommends avoiding crowded areas, eating healthy, especially when the season makes it an easy option, and drinking plenty of fluids, especially still water. In hot weather, it is better to avoid walking between 11.00 am and 16.00 pm. Indoor spaces should be always aired.
Meteorologists issued a yellow-code advisory for hot weather, with temperatures around +35 degrees. If the temperatures continue to increase, the advisory will be orange-coded.
