When a responsible acting prosecutor general comes to the PGO, this could make approaches to the states where the former leader of the Democratic Party Vladimir Plahotniuc could be hiding, Prime Minister Maia Sandu was quoted by IPN as saying in a program on N4 TV channel. She noted this could happen after legal action is taken against Plahotniuc, IPN reports.

“The first thing to be done is to charge him based on evidence and I’m sure there is now courage at the PGO to initiate these proceedings. The illegalities committed by him should be documented and the seeking of his extradition from the United States and probably other countries where he could be hiding would be the next step,” stated the Premier, noting a group of serious prospectors could gather proofs.

Maia Sandu said the cooperation with the Democratic Party is possible, but this could happen if the Democratic Party goes through a profound cleanup process. “A lot of those who sit in Parliament and work in the party’s executive bodies should leave and give this party a chance. I think this party will need time to regain the people’s confidence and we will discuss a coalition after the next elections, surely if this reformation takes place,” she stated.

The Premier also said that if the institutional reform planned to be done by the new government by bringing independent people to key institutions, such as the PGO and the Constitutional Court, fails, this will be a red line that could not be crossed by the ACUM bloc and the Party of Socialists. “We came to politics to free the state from the control of particular personages, to build independent institutions that would obey and enforce the law, that would work in the people’s interests. This is the red line for us. When we see that our partners have other interests, evidently this majority will be disbanded,” noted Maia Sandu.
