PM proposes institutionalizing presence of “Hanns Seidel” Foundation in Moldova

Prime Minister Vlad Filat suggested institutionalizing the presence of the German Foundation “Hanns Seidel” in Moldova by founding a representative office in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Government. The Foundation analyses the political events and actions and the preparedness of the decision makers. It also stimulated the promotion of gifted students from Germany and abroad through the Institute for International Contact and Cooperation. In a meeting with Vlad Filat, the Foundation’s president Hans Zehetmair said that the Institute’s objective is to promote sustainable development, based on democracy, peace and social market economy. In Moldova, the Foundation is represented by two offices – one in Bucharest, which cooperates with civil society and the Constitutional Court, and one in Kiev, which is responsible for public security and order. Hans Zehetmair said that the projects and programs supported by “Hanns Seidel” are aimed at encouraging administrative and institutional development, promoting democracy in the local public administration and institutions, preparing skilled personnel for public order and security and the local public administration, supporting the constitutional reforms and the more active participation of civil society in the social life and decision making.
