PM displeased with the price of food sold in medical-sanitary institutions

PM Vasile Tarlev is displeased with the high prices of food and indispensable products set by the stores installed nearby or in the medical-sanitary institutions in Moldova. The PM has recently said that he will not tolerate such prices and requested the specialised authorities to monitor the activity of these units. According to the PM, the stores are using the fact that the ill persons or visitors can not buy certain indispensable products from stores or markets and are increase artificially the prices of these products. Tarlev mentioned that the minister of Internal Affairs has recently conducted an analysis in this respect. It was found that the prices in Chisinau are about twofold higher, compared with the average prices in the municipality. “The unfair and inhuman attitude of the sellers, as well as of the managers of these medical institutions who make businesses on the account of peoples’ health have to be immediately stopped by authorities”, the PM said. He asked in this context, to evacuate the private drugstores from the public institutions, because this is a “scheme created by several doctors or managers of medical institutions together with private drugstores”. Vasile Tarlev proposed to create a special working group, composed of the representatives of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Economy and Commerce and the Tax Inspectorate which will monitor the situation during 10 days and will report the Government sitting about an Action Plan worked out to change the present situation in the commercial units.
