PM Chicu congratulates Moldovan Jews on Rosh Hashanah

On the eve of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, Prime Minister Ion Chicu issued a best wishes message to the Jewish community of Moldova.

"The tradition of this important holiday unites Jews in prayer and allows to summarize and show solidarity via good thoughts full of gratitude, as to begin a new stage together. May these holidays, which mark the beginning of a new year according to the Jewish calendar and carry a special spiritual significance, open the way for new opportunities and achievements. May they fill your homes with joy and your soul with peace. May this community prosper and may we have an exchange of ideas for a good further collaboration", said the prime minister.

The Jewish New Year begins today at sunset. The celebration ends on Sunday evening. On Rosh Hashanah, Jews mark the anniversary of the creation of the first people, Adam and Eve. The significance and aim of the holiday is to promote inner peace and tranquility and to strengthen the motivation to become a better person.
