The Liberal Reformist Party (PLR) said it will not run in the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019. In the December 16 meeting of the party’s National Political Council, it was decided that the PLR in the elections will unconditionally support the electoral bloc ACUM and will call on the members and sympathies of the party to do the same, IPN reports.
In a press release, the PLR said the meeting ascertained that the party’s efforts to constitute or join a unionist electoral construction failed. It was noted that the measures taken by the oligarchic forces are aimed at making the penetration of forces from outside the political sphere controlled by the oligarchic duo impossible. To combat these plans, a much more pronounced polarization of the forces that declare themselves anti-oligarchic is needed and the gravity of the given situation requires maximum responsibility, political maturity and extraordinary decisions.
The National Political Council scheduled the PLR’s Congress for January 20, 2019.
