PLR supports PUN candidates in mayoral elections in Balti and Chisinau

The Liberal Reformist Party (PLR) called on the inhabitants of Chisinau to vote for Constantin Codreanu, the candidate for mayor of Chisinau of the National Unity Party (PUN). Moreover, the party expressed its support for the PUN candidate for the mayoralty of Balti Sergiu Burlacu, IPN reports.

In a news conference, co-chairman of the PLR Oleg Bodrug said this gesture shows common political will and is an exercise of consolidation for the desideratum of Moldova’s union with Romania. “The importance of the event resides in the union in thoughts and the achievement of a common goal. We, the members of the PLR, consider ourselves a unionist party. We throw support to the PUN candidate Constantin Codreanu so as to achieve the big dream – the union. We are sure that Chisinau needs a unionist mayor,” stated Oleg Bodrug.

The PLR members also called on other parties that declare themselves unionist and not only to make common cause in the struggle against the oligarchs. “This alliance is natural and logical as both of the parties share the same desideratum – Moldova’s union with Romania. The PLR will also support the candidate for mayoralty of Balti. In this connection, we call on all the pro-European parties to refrain from mutual attacks so as not to given an advantage to those who are in power,” said the deputy chairwoman of the PLR Tatiana Potang.

The president of honor of the PUN Traian Basescu approved of the support offered by the PLR and assured that this gesture implies a long-term partnership. “I would say that the PLR’s gesture is one that shows cooperation will and we will no longer say that Constantin Codreanu is our candidate. We will say he is the candidate of the PUN – PLR alliance. I thank our colleagues from the PLR and assure them that we will be loyal partners when they also need support. We think this cooperation will last long and would like this to be an example for the other parties. If we cannot unite two parties, how can we unite two countries?” said Traian Basescu.

“I’m glad that you have this view. You showed it not only by words, but also by deeds. I regret that other unionists didn’t come to the dialogue table,” stated the candidate for mayor of Chisinau Constatin Codreanu.
