PLR demands dismissing National Bank governor

The Liberal Reformist Party (PLR) expresses its concern about the situation in the economic-financial sector. It considers that the involvement of resident banks of Moldova and of a number of courts of law in the laundering of over US$18 billion coming from Russia is very serious. In a communiqué, the party says the dubious transactions were performed with the tacit consent of the state inspection bodies, especially the National Bank. This seriously affects the credibility of the banking system and the Moldovan state, IPN reports.

“The National Bank of Moldova’s consent to selling an important shareholding in Banca de Economii to Russia’s state-owned bank “Vneshekonombank” was an inadmissible act. The yielding up of control over a bank with state capital to the Russian government runs counter to the national interest and Moldova’s European course. By this act, the central bank allowed Moscow and its affiliated oligarchs to control Moldova’s financial security,” the PLR says in its message.

As regards the concession of the Chisinau International Airport, the PLR says the attitude of the courts to this subject shows that they are involved in the sabotaging of the national security. All the related events and trends can affect Moldova’s European course. The PLR demands dismissing the National Bank governor for facilitating illegal transactions in the banking sector and for the pursued anti-national policy that led to the exaggerated depreciation of the national currency and the rise in prices.

The PLR calls on all the responsible bodies, including the Supreme Security Council and the National Committee for Financial Stability, to intervene and stabilize the situation and to punish those to blame so as to immediately stop the process of transforming the Moldovan banks into stations for laundering Russian money and return the Chisinau International Airport and Banca de Economii under state control.

The Liberal Reformist Party also calls upon the Supreme Council of Magistrates to assess the work of judges who, in breach of the law, rejected the application to examine the legality of conceding the Chisinau International Airport.
