After the Liberal Party, the Liberal Reformist Party (PLR) also registered a bill providing for Moldova’s withdrawal from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), IPN reports.
The PLR says the initiative was determined by Russia’s actions, which are illegal and abusive and run counter to the international norms. A proof is the occupation of a part of Moldova in 1992, a part of Georgia in 2008 and now a part of Ukraine, in 2014. The three countries are CIS members. Another reason is the non-fulfillment of the commitments to withdraw the troops from Moldova made by Russia at the OSCE Istanbul Summit of 1999.
The members of the PLR consider that the CIS mechanisms are inefficient and do not contribute to welfare and peace in the region. That’s why Moldova should denounce the agreement on the creation of the CIS.
The Liberal Reformist Party calls on all the political forces of Moldova to subscribe to this initiative. For Moldova to leave the CIS, Parliament must adopt an organic law stipulating this.
