Plot triggers new scandal in Chisinau Council
Scandal in the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) because of a plot of land. The Liberal faction refused, on Friday, May 23, to support the draft envisaging to let the firm Agregat plot of land to build houses. Some councilors have accused the faction of having interests in the matter, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The draft was set for the councilors' consideration many times, but was rejected for re-consideration every time.
“You conduct an anti-state and anti-social policy. What shall I deduce from your attitude? That you have interests in this matter to be tergiversated until you get money?” stated Patria-Rodina Ravnopravie Movement councilor. Valeri Climenco has underlined he has noticed, for 2-3 months, the Liberals' clear will to vote against land issues.
In response, the CMC president, Mihai Ghimpu, the Liberal Party (PL) leader, has said drafts representing interests for certain factions are slipped into the order of the day of sittings. PL does not endorse them for not having the endorsements of the CMC committees. The CMC president went on accusing colleagues from other factions of blocking the CMC's activity tergiversating the adoption of drafts which really are in the citizens' interests. “There are thousands and thousands drafts waiting to be solved, and we stay two days doing nothing. We take off the land drafts from order of the day, while the citizens expect results from us. I know your politics, you want to show PL does nothing,” Mihai Ghimpu revolted.
A number of councilors accused Mihai Ghimpu of taking decisions for the entire faction, and does not let the PL councilors to vote as they think proper.
Meanwhile a Chisinau resident entered the hall complaining the CMC does not consider a rent issue he had lodged a year and a half ago. The councilors blamed one another for the situation.
Angered by the way the sitting unfolded the Christian-Democrats left the sitting.
The sitting was going on when airing this news story.
