The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) will continue to take part in the consultations held to form a parliamentary collation and a government based on the conditions put forward by the party’s National Political Council following its meeting of December 13, 2015, Liberal-Democratic MP Iurie Tap said after the extended meeting of the PLDM’s Central Standing Bureau held on January 8, IPN reports.

According to Iurie Tap, the announced meeting of the National Political Council didn’t take place because the quorum was not present. That’s why they held an extended meeting of the Central Standing Bureau.

The lawmaker said the party is for continuing the discussions on the formation of a parliamentary majority that will promote systemic, profound and suitable reforms that could change the state of affairs in the Republic of Moldova. “The discussions will continue based on the decision of the National Political Council that convened on December 13, 2015. We must discuss what should happen in Moldova and what we should do to change the state of affairs,” stated Iurie Tap.

He also said that the Bureau didn’t officially discuss possible defections from the party and the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group.

After the December 13 meeting of the National Political Council of the PLDM, the party’s acting chairman Valeriu Strelet told the press that the party will take part in the negotiations if four main conditions are fulfilled: freeing of the independent institutions from political and party captivity; dismissal of the administration of the institutions to blame for the theft of the US$1 billion; nomination of an apolitical person as Prime Minister, who would be free to act, and re-formation of the government and promotion of a new attitude to governance.

Afterward, both the PLDM and PDM claimed the right to nominate the candidate for Prime Minister.
