PLDM will take part in extended discussions, but is waiting for answers to its conditions

The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova accepted the proposal of the Democratic Party to take part in discussions with all the pro-European parties. However, after the meeting with the representatives of the PDM, the leader of the PLDM Valeriu Strelet said they are waiting for answers to the conditions put forwards earlier, IPN reports.

Valeriu Strelet noted that the Lib-Dems didn’t get much clarity in the discussions with the Democrats. “We received no clear answers to the subjects invoked by us, which were made public after yesterday’s meeting of the National Political Council. Our objective was to obtain an answer to the proposal to free the state institutions from political and party dependence,” he stated, adding that they also didn’t get an answer as to the possibility of naming a politically unaffiliated Prime Minster.

On the other hand, the leader of the PDM Marian Lupu said that he does not want preconditions in the negotiations. “In the consultations, I expressed the PDM’s position. I proposed that the dialogue should be held without conditions and preconditions and I transmitted a relevant message to the colleagues from the PLDM – to sit at the negotiating table starting with tomorrow. These discussions should involve all the pro-European parties – the PLDM, PL, PDM and the group of unaffiliated MPs,” he stated.

Lupu added that he accepted the invitation to consultations as a gesture of goodwill. “I consider this was a positive meeting that ultimately ended the period when no discussions were held. The lack of dialogue is something negative, especially in the current situation,” he said.

Earlier today, the PLDM also had consultations with the representatives of the Liberal Party and Iurie Leanca’s group.
