PLDM will soon decide if it will take part in elections individually or in a bloc

The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) wants to take part in the parliamentary elections of next February by itself, but, given the sociopolitical situation in Moldova, it is also considering the possibility of running in a bloc alongside other parties, the party’s vice president Ion Terguță stated for IPN after the meeting of the National Political Council of the PLDM held on November 11.

According to Ion Terguță, a press statement with details about the meeting will be issued on November 12. “The decision as a result of the secret ballot was 50% for accepting the offer to run in a bloc with other parties and 50% against. A final decision will be taken the coming days. This should be a decision that would help the Republic of Moldova get rid of dictatorship and authoritarianism,” he noted.

The meeting involved the leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) Maia Sandu and the leader of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Năstase. The two parties already formed a common bloc for the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019.

New discussions between the PAS, PPPDA, PLDM and the Liberal Party were scheduled for November 12. A week ago, when the first discussions were held, the four parties explored the possibility of fielding the best common candidates in the 51 single-member constituencies.
