PLDM will not field own candidate for mayoral elections in Chisinau

The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) will not field an own candidate for the new mayoral elections that will be held in Chisinau municipality on May 20 following the resignation tendered by Dorin Chirtoaca. The party’s Political Bureau decided that the PLDM will support a common candidate, IPN reports.

The party set the March 31 deadline for finishing the discussions concerning its support for a common candidate.

So far, their candidates for the mayoralty of Chisinau were announced by the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (Andrei Nastase), Liberal Party (Valeriu Munteanu), Party of Socialists (Ion Ceban) and Shor Party (Reghina Apostolova).

The Democratic Party said it will not have an own candidate in the local elections, but is ready to support a common candidate of the pro-European forces of the right. The Party “Action and Solidarity” said it will not nominate a candidate until it completes the discussions on the creation of an electoral bloc for the 2018 parliamentary elections with the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”.
