The parliamentary group of the Liberal Democratic Party insists that the new amendments proposed to the Law on the Prosecution Service were voted and introduced with deviations from the legislation. Liberal-Democratic MP Tudor Deliu told a news conference that he and his colleagues will ask the embassies and international institutions working in Moldova to assess the way in which the bill on the prosecution service was edited, IPN reports.
The MP said it is strange that the Liberal MPs and former members of the Communist group earlier didn’t vote the given amendments, but supported them now, in the meeting of the Parliament’s legal commission.
According to the Lib-Dems, the 32 amendments modify the conception of the bill drafted by the working group constituted to draw it up. Tudor Deliu noted that the changes institute a political instrument that the Prosecutor General’s Office could use against those who are inconvenient. “The current ruling alliance changes the laws on the way, how it wants. This should make us more vigilant,” stated the lawmaker.
The bill was approved by the legal commission with the new amendments proposed and is to be examined by Parliament in the second reading. The Lib-Dems boycotted the commission’s meeting.
