The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) will choose another candidate for the post of Prime Minister. The designated person will hold negotiations with the parliamentary factions on the formation of a new Government, the party’s leader Vlad Filat announced after the meeting of the PLDM National Political Council, IPN reports.
Asked if they considered possible candidates, the Liberal-Democratic leader said that the task of selecting a person was entrusted to the party’s Political Bureau. He underlined that he will not apply for this post anymore.
Vlad Filat also said that the negotiations on the creation of a parliamentary majority will be held only with the Democrats, unaffiliated MPs and the group of the Liberals led by Ion Hadarca. The candidate designated for premiership will create his own team of ministers, while the other partners taking part in the talks will be able to propose their own candidates.
According to Vlad Filat, the negotiations will be open so that the people see what principles and values the officials elected by them have. If the talks fail, they will inform the people that a parliamentary majority couldn’t be created and there will be held early elections.
As to the disagreements in Parliament after the Democratic leader Marian Lupu was dismissed from the post of Head of Parliament, Vlad Filat said the Deputy Speaker must be able to fulfill the duties of the Speaker. “If is happens that the Speaker dies, what shall we do then”, asked rhetorically the leader of the PLDM.
