The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) decided to convoke its Political Council as soon as possible so as to decide what steps to take further after the Constitutional Court ruled that the party’s leader Vlad Filat can no longer apply for the post of Prime Minister, Liberal-Democratic MP Tudor Deliu, who is a member of the PLDM Central Political Bureau, has told IPN.
“We held a meeting and discussed a number of issues, but took no decision. This is the duty of the Council, not of the Political Bureau. The Council will be convened in the nearest future,” said Tudor Deliu, adding that the party on April 23 had a series of meetings.
The chairman of the PLDM Vlad Filat told the reporters that the party will act in accordance with the principles of a democratic state with the rule of law. After the Constitutional Court decided that President Nicolae Timofti violated the Constitution when he designated Acting Prime Minister Vlad Filat for premiership, the first deputy chairman of the PLDM Iurie Leanca was named as interim Premier.
