PLDM: Those who illegally arrested, killed, tortured and raped will answer
“The Liberal Democratic Party from Moldova (PLDM) has been always close to citizens, defending their rights and interests, fighting with the Communist wrongdoings,” stated PLDM leader Vlad Filat at a news conference on Monday, as the party launched its electoral campaign, Info-Prim Neo reports.
On April 7, tens of thousands of citizens took to streets to protest against rigging the elections, against the Communist rule and to defend their future, said the PLDM president. “In order to hide their fraud and wrongdoings, the Communists used paid provocateurs, who derailed the peaceful protests, devastated and set fire to the Parliament and the Presidency. Then the Voronin regime arrested thousands of innocent citizens, many being bestially tortured, and some of them being cruelly killed,” Vlad Filat said.
The PLDM's electoral slogan in this race is “Together for Moldova.” Building a state of law and creating a judiciary which makes justice are the first two commitments the PLDM makes, in case it gets to power.
The PLDM's first deputy president, Alexandru Tanase, has said the party wants to insure “a genuine separation of powers, in which the president of the country will be elected directly by citizens, to build a state with free media and a developed civil society.”
A member of the PLDM's political bureau, lawyer Vitalie Nagacevschi, has said the judiciary must be independent, “from where we'll eliminate corruption, commissioned probes and illegal court sentences.” “We'll elucidate the April 7 events jointly with the civil society and with international experts. Those who illegally arrested, killed, tortured and raped will equally answer as the those who planned and conducted from behind the curtain, regardless of their offices,” Nagacevschi said.
Economist Veaceslav Ionita has talked about the need to create a competitive economy, “with friendly business environment and favorable investment climate.” “We'll unmonopolize the businesses and will insure the inviolability of property”, he said.
Referring to the peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, PLDM deputy president Mihai Godea has said first the Russian army and ammunition must be retreated, then the Transnistrian area must be administrated by a mission under the UN's or the EU's mission.
The PLDM promises to raise the retirement pension to 100 euros, to grant child birth indemnities of 750 euros, and the teachers – a monthly salary of 500 euros till 2013. The PLDM will stand that the EU should allow the Moldovans to enter the Schengen area without visas and to secure the statute of an EU associate for Moldova.
