The Democratic Party’s negotiator to the talks on the creation of a parliamentary majority Valeriu Lazar said the Liberal-Democrats came to the fourth round of discussions with mathematical formulas to explain why they deserve more responsibilities in the future Government. The negotiators of the Liberal Democratic Party and the group of the Liberal reformers said the discussions on the government agreement are close to an end and they prepare to switch to the second stage – the distribution of responsibilities by areas in the future Government, IPN reports.
Valeriu Lazar said the PLDM presented a first draft governmental design. “We ascertained that we need more information as to how the future Government will work. The Liberal-Democratic colleagues came with a different distribution formula and this will slow the process down,” he stated, adding that they want to hold the same posts as earlier, but changes can be made in the areas where things went bad.
PLDM deputy head Liliana Palihovici said that the discussions this time centered on the distribution of the areas of responsibility. According to her, the areas of responsibility from the outgoing Government may be kept, but radical changes are possible. As to the National Anticorruption Center and the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Lib-Dems insist that these institutions should not be distributed. Liliana Palihovici added that judging by the discussions on the draft agreement, they can say that the majority needed to vote in the new Cabinet was formed.
The leader of the Liberal reformers Ion Hadarca said one more step was taken towards finalizing the draft agreement. “We are close to the other phase. Pandora’s box was opened slightly and then closed quickly,” said the politician, referring to the distribution of posts in the future executive.
The negotiators said a new round of negotiations will be held on Friday evening or in the first half of Saturday.
