PLDM says the Opposition should take joint measures to ensure transparency in talks on Transnistria settlement
The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) offers the parties that are in opposition to the present Communist government to take joint steps to ensure maximum transparency in the settlement process of the Transnistrian conflict.
According to a communique from PLDM, cited by Info-Prim Neo, a first step towards achieving this objective will be the signing of a joint document of the Opposition parties through which President Vladimir Voronin will be required to immediately start consultations with the political parties and civil society, ensuring thus the transparency and legitimacy of the negotiating process.
In this connection, PLDM says that Vladimir Voronin misuses his authority as he manages the process of settling the Transnistrian dispute non-transparently and non-professionally. His super-secretive talks with the mediators, the settlement proposals launched without discussing them with the Democratic parties and the society can affect the sovereignty and independence of Moldova even more.
The same source considers that the talks held behind the scenes have no legal and moral foundations as they are aimed at undermining the constitutional order in Moldova and warn that they would destabilise the situation in the country. Vladimir Voronin will bear personal responsibility for the possible consequences, PLDM says.
