The Liberal Democratic Party pleads for adopting a new approach to governance so that the political class takes the side of the people and promote their interests, IPN reports, quoting the Declaration of the parliamentary group of the PLDM. The document was made public in a press briefing given after the group asked that the head of state should postpone the consultations held to identify a candidate for Premier, IPN reports.
“We ascertain a profound division in society, serious social and economic problems and lack of authentic people’s support for the parties that set the European integration as an objective and consider that it is very important to adopt a new approach to governance. The key element of this approach is to put the people’s interests above everything and to free the law enforcement bodies from political control so as to discover the truth about the thefts committed in the banking system and to liberalize and de-monopolize the economy and the mass media,” reads the Statement .
In the press beefing, Liberal-Democratic MP Tudor Deliu said the Democratic Party bears overall responsibility for the Government’s dismissal, which led to the current political crisis. “By voting together with the Socialists and Communists, the Democrats endangered Moldova’s European course and consciously assumed the liquidation of the AEI 3 and all the political consequences of this process. Their actions revealed their true goals that would allow them to further pretend to be doing reforms, keeping the selective justice, media monopoly and the country’s economy under the control of a limited group of formal or real leaders,” stated the lawmaker.
The Lib-Dems describe the rhetoric of some of the leaders of the PDM, by which the rumors about the split of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group are fuelled, as offending. “Despite the used pressure, manipulation and blackmailing, the parliamentary group of the PLDM confirms its determination to act in accordance with the interests of the Moldovan people. We consider the PLDM made an essential contribution to bringing about positive changes when it formed part of the government. Many important projects were implemented in all the areas of activity with the support of the development partners,” stated Tudor Deliu.
The group of the PLDM admits to the deviations from the assumed course towards modernization. “We weren’t sufficiently perseverant and insistent in fighting selective justice and in using the anticorruption system as a political cudgel. We regret that we made too many compromises for a government coalition to be formed and admit that the blame for the loss of confidence in the political class and in the rule of law is mainly borne by the political class,” added Tudor Deliu.
The head of state today had consultations to identify a potential candidate for premiership with the parliamentary groups of the PDM and PL. The Democrats consider that an agreement on the formation of the parliamentary coalition should be drafted by this weekend, while the Liberals think a candidate for Prime Minister cannot be fielded until a government coalition is not formed. The PLDM asked postponing the consultations with it.
