PLDM, PDM initiate dialogue with PCRM

The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and the Democratic Party (PDM) initiated a dialogue with the Party of Communists (PCRM) on the creation of a parliamentary majority. The first meeting took place in the evening of January 13. The discussions will continue tomorrow, January 14, IPN reports.

MP on behalf of the PDM Sergiu Sarbu said after the meeting that they didn’t discuss the distribution of posts, but possibilities of cooperation and tried to identify the common and differing points. “As we have misunderstandings with the Liberal Party, we evidently must find solutions and possibilities to break the deadlock. Given that the Party of Communists is ready to contribute to ensuring stability in Moldova, they should be allowed to offer assistance. We thus considered it is very useful to have a dialogue with them,” he stated, adding that the discussions with the PL will continue.

“We should find common elements that would allow us to overcome the political crisis,” Communist MP Artur Reshetnikov said after the meeting. He noted that the PCRM is ready to assume responsibility for ensuring Moldova’s development. “All the MPs received a vote of confidence from the people, who are waiting for the living conditions to improve and for results to be achieved. It is the duty of the lawmakers to take immediate measures to overcome the political crisis,” he said.

Earlier, the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu said the invitation made by the leaders of the PLDM and PDM to the PCRM does not represent pressure exerted on the PL so that the party makes concessions. “We want to make a change and the people are waiting for this change. We must find a compromise so as to really implement the European values,” he stated.
