The pro-European parties – the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), the Democratic Party (PDM) and the Liberal Party (PL) – haven’t reached an agreement about the formation of a government coalition at the talks held in the evening of January 15. After the talks, negotiators told the journalists that they are tired of shows, but even so the post of head of state will not be offered to a party, IPN reports.

The leader of the PL Mihai Ghimpu said the Liberals put forward 14 issues that must be clarified, some before the signing of the agreement on the formation of the alliance, while others afterward. “They say that the PL wants the post of head of state and the problem derives from here, but this is not so,” he stated.

The chairman of the PDM Marian Lupu stated that he is tired of accusations and shows and wants progress to be made. “The country needs an efficient government that will cope with any challenge and I want to assure you that we will have such a government soon, with or without the PL,” he said.

Vlad Filat, the head of the PLDM, said the problem resides in the fact that the PL demands offering it the post of head of state. “This post cannot be distributed. If they really want to form this alliance, they have all the things needed to do it,” he stated.

The PLDM and PDM are holding in parallel discussions with the Party of Communists. After the last discussions, the negotiators of this format expressed their optimism that Parliament will soon become functional.
