PLDM launches campaign for November 30 elections

The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) started the election campaign that precedes the November 30 legislative elections after presenting a progress report for the period between September 2009 and September 2014, IPN reports. In the event held in the Great National Assembly Square, the party’s leader Vlad Filat said exceptional events will take place over the next few weeks. “The election campaign we launch today will entail unprecedented mobilization. We all know that the destiny of our county is at stake. The PLDM is ready for what will happen next,” he stated.

According to the Liberal-Democratic leader, the choice that each citizen will make in the parliamentary elections of this autumn must be clear, while the consequences must be assumed. Moldova’s future is in the Europa Union and this future will be prosperous, within a developed and modern country.

“There are two ways open to us. One way, which failed, is the way of Moldova’s opponents. This way will isolate our country and will thwart the European course. It will bring chaos, uncertainty and dramatic situations. The other way is the road to Europe. In order to maintain this way, the PLDM needs your support,” stated Vlad Filat.

The party’s first deputy chairman, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said that the country’s European perspective is the PLDM’s priority. Despite all the results achieved, Moldova’s people are waiting for changes. “Today we are deciding Moldova’s future. Our party is the foundation of this future and the guarantee that such changes will take place. The importance of this autumn’s elections is comparable to the declaration of independence on August 27, 1991,” he stated.

Actress Ninela Caranfil, Emeritus Artist, read the creation unions’ Declaration of Support for the PLDM’s objective to bring Moldova into the European family. The statement, signed by people of culture and art, was also supported by the Union of Independence War Veterans, the Veterans’ Associations of the Ministry of the Interior, veterans of the Armed Forces and the Security and Information Service, former deportees and political detainees of Moldova.

At the end of the event, there was adopted a resolution saying that only by scoring a victory in the November 30 elections can the PLDM ensure the implementation of the PLDM-2020 plan that envisions Moldova’s entry into the EU in 2020, after gaining the status of candidate for accession in 2017.
