The Liberal Democratic Party intends to register as a standalone electoral competitor in the October 20 local elections, as decided at the PLDM National Council meeting Sunday.
PLDM president Tudor Deliu said however that a clause has been introduced in the National Council resolution which leaves the gate open for cooperation with “all the right-wing parties, both parliamentary and extra-parliamentary”.
Deliu also said that the party’s National Council has approved a detailed schedule with what needs to be done before the elections.
Per Sunday’s resolution, PLDM shall guarantee the representation of women in the process of selecting candidates, while also promoting young contenders. The party also vows to implement the best local development practices to improve living standards.
Additionally, PLDM members voted to elect two new vice presidents of the party: Alexandru Bujoreanu, president of PLDM Leova; and Iulian David, president of PLDM Călărași.
