PLDM informs about chain attacks on young people

The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) asserts young people are threatened and intimidated into not campaigning in favor of the Liberal-Democrats, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communiqué, the party says 250 students from all the universities of Chisinau, accommodated in dormitories, were to take part on Sunday in the screening of the movie "The Soviet Story", on the occasion of the International Day Commemorating the Victims of Communism. But the movie could not be watched until the end as unidentified persons set leaves on fire in the campus and the area was covered in smoke. A car went intentionally across the cables that supplied electricity to the projector and there was a short circuit. After the incident, emissaries of the young komsomolists were seen in the campus. Another incident happened on November 6 in the evening. During a discotheque organized by young Liberal-Democrat members in Leova town, which was attended by over 200 young people, a person spread tear gas and everyone had to leave the room. A girl was injured and needed medical care. An investigation is under way. In Biruinta village of Sangerei district, a mobile team of PLDM campaigners was stopped by persons dressed in camouflaged clothes, who took their electoral materials and told them to leave the settlement, threatening them with death. The persons had on them hunter guns. It was later established that the car in which the given persons traveled belonged to the former head of Floresti district, who is a member of the PCRM. A complaint over this case was filed to the Sangerei police commissariat. The PLDM describes these incidents as attempts to intimidate the supporters of the Liberal-Democrats.
