PLDM identifies new candidate for premiership

The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) has fielded a new candidate for the post of Prime Minister after the Leanca 2 Government wasn’t given a vote of confidence by Parliament this Thursday. The new candidate is businessman Chiril Gaburici. The announcement was made by the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat after the February 13 meeting of the party’s Political Bureau, IPN reports.

Vlad Filat said the decision concerning the candidacy of Gaburici was taken not accidentally, but as a result of debates within the party and consultations with the alliance partner, the PDM. “We took such a decision in order to ensure the quality of government so that it is good and efficient and ensures a positive vote in Parliament. We put forward a candidate from outside the party not accidentally,” he stated.

As to former candidate Iurie Leanca, the Liberal-Democratic leader said he is a mature man and supported the party’s decision, which was adopted unanimously. On the other hand, Iurie Leanca said after the meeting that he supports Gaburici, but will vote for him only if a PLDM-PDM-PL alliance is formed, not yet if there is a minority government.

Chiril Gaburici, 38, is from Loganesti village of Hancesti district. He graduated from the Faculty of Economy of the Slavic University of Chisinau. Since 2008 until 2012, he had managed the mobile phone company “Moldcell”. Now he holds the post of director of a mobile phone carrier in Azerbaijan.
