The education reform is not only an electoral commitment, heavyweights of the Liberal Democratic Parry of Moldova (PLDM) said in a news conference on October 24. The party’s leader Vlad Filat stated that the Plan 2020 for a European Moldova, launched by the PLDM, provides a clear view of high-quality education. “We have already repaired over 800 schools and kindergartens. We will continue to renovate the institutions. Every year, the salaries of teachers will be raised so that we come closer to the European remuneration standards,” said the politician, quoted by IPN.
The Liberal-Democratic leader said the network of schools and colleges will be developed. There will be created better conditions and greater opportunities for students. The classrooms will be outfitted with modern equipment, while the university campuses and dorms will be connected to the Internet. Vlad Filat called on the people not to bring the initiated reforms to an end and to support the beneficial changes.
Suspended Minister of Education Maia Sandu, who is a member of the PLDM, said the Plan 2020 envisions the radical transformation of the education system. “We aim to review the programs so as to have relevant education. We want to create a quality assurance system and to develop a system for motivating teachers so that we attract and maintain the professionals in the system. We will continue the reforms so as to build a European education system,” she stated.
A project to the value of €25 million to improve the infrastructure of education institutions will be launched in 2015. “We have the important task of implementing the Education Code and of ensuring access to education for all the categories of people. We will make education mandatory up to 18 so that at this age the young people already have a job. We will authorize the directors of institutions, the parents and teachers to decide by themselves how to manage the financial resources,” said Maia Sandu.
The PLDM was written in the ballot under No. 4.
