The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) does not support the candidacy of Vlad Plahotniuc, who was proposed for Prime Minister by the Democratic Party, acting chairman of the PLDM Valeriu Strelet said after the January 13 meeting of the party’s Political Bureau, IPN reports.
“The PLDM ascertains that the fielding by the PDM of Vlad Plahotniuc for premiership represents a danger to social peace and stability. The proposed candidate is not supported by the Liberal Democratic Party and its parliamentary group,” stated Valeriu Strelet. According to him, the designation of this candidate represents a dangerous precondition for excessively concentrating the power in one political pole and for subordinating the state institutions.
The acting chairman of the PLDM also said that a political majority based on authentic principles of rule of law and democratic rules must be created in the immediate future. The party’s executive bodies will soon announce the party’s future steps in the created circumstances.
The Democratic Party decided to propose the party’s first deputy chairman Vlad Plahotniuc for the post of Prime Minister. The announcement was made by the Democrats’ leader Marian Lupu at the presidential villa in Condrita in the afternoon of January 13.
