PLDM distributes flags to education institutions

The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) will donate the Moldovan flag to all the education institutions of the country within a campaign launched on the occasion of the National Flag Day that is marked on April 27, IPN reports.

The party’s leader PLDM Vlad Filat told a news conference that the flag of the EU will be given to the education institutions alongside the national flag, together with a CD with the national anthems of Moldova and the EU.

During the ten-day campaign, 1,500 Moldovan flags, 1,500 EU flags, 30 tricolor ribbons, and 1,500 CDs with the national anthems of Moldova and the EU will be transmitted to primary and secondary schools, lyceums, colleges, vocational schools, and universities.

“We hope that these acts will refresh in each of us the price for the country and the national symbols. The independence, sovereignty and national symbols are things that we must protect, promote and praise,” stated Vlad Filat.

He voiced hope that other organizations will also launch campaigns to promote the national symbols.

Moldova’s flag is a tricolor with vertical blue, yellow and red bands. In the central yellow band, there is imprinted Moldova’s coat of arms. The tricolor became the national flag on April 27, 1990. April 27 was declared the National Flag Day by a Parliament decision of April 23, 2010.
