PLDM distributes charities on International Children Day

The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) finds that the situation of children in Moldova is extremely difficult. A large number of children don't grow in families, and the state does not show enough care for them, announced members of the Youth and Women's organizations of the PLDM at a news conference on Monday, June 1. The economic conditions, the frequent social crises Moldova has passed through have directly affected the quality of the children's life. The family is not a strong social support any longer, and very many children are deprived of the parents' affection and education within their families, reads a communique authored by the PLDM and distributed at the news conference. “About 30% of the Moldovan children grow without parents. One in nine children has one or both parents working abroad, the total number exceeding 100,000. 95 % of the children from orphanages have both parents alive,” PLDM finds. “It's tragic to realize that this country has turned into a gigantic orphanages, as the orphans' parents argued their abandonment by saying they care about their children,” said parliamentarian Liliana Palihovici. The negative consequences of migration over children are assuming difficult roles, denying the authority of the persons under whose tutelage those children are, missing one's parents, aggressiveness. These children become bold, rebellious and violent, many resort to suicide as a solution to their problems, said the PLDM ladies. PLDM calls on all the social factors: the family, school, church – to intervene to solve the problem of social exclusion, but also to return the hope to the Moldovan society for continuity and prosperity. On the occasion of the Children's Day, the Liberal Democratic Party has launched the charity action “The future is near you! Get involved!” It is meant to help the children in difficulty. About 30 vulnerable families from 6 localities in Chisinau's suburbs receive donations from the PLDM deputies and stationery collected by the Youth Organization of the party. It's just the beginning of bigger action of collecting aid unfolded by the young Liberal Democrats for the children in difficulty. From June 1 to 5, a play for the children called “The cheerful puppets” will be shown in 15 villages from the districts of Telenesti, Orhei, Rezina, Hancesti and Nisporeni.
