The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) has had to dismantle its tents from the Great National Assembly Square only 24 hours after installing them, thus confirming to a decision of the Supreme Court of Justice, issued on April 2, following an appeal submitted by the Chisinau prosecutor's office, Info-Prim Neo reports. The PLDM has installed the tents for a non-stop drive named “Vote without fear”, planned to last till Friday, April 3. Scores of policemen, some of them dressed in civilian clothing, Wednesday tried to hamper the party's representatives to erect the tents. Chisinau deputy commissar Iacob Gumenita invoked that the decision authorizing the action, inked by mayor-in-office Vlad Cotet, was sued by the Chisinau prosecutor at the Appellate Court. The police pulled back after the court gave the case to the PLDM. PLDM leader Vlad Filat stated on April 2 that the Supreme Court's writ was legal, although it was heavily influenced politically. “It's not a matter of putting up with it. We have always demonstrated that we base our activity on the law. Yesterday's situation proved who does not abide by the law in this country. Unfortunately, this governance has never realized that the Moldovan citizens do have rights and freedoms, including the right to picket,” Filat said. The PLDM president has also said his party will continue its actions. “We have to send the same message to our citizens: do not be afraid, do not let yourselves bullied, and vote for Moldova's future on April 5, for a government to insure our rights and freedoms,” Vlad Filat specified.
