Shifting to the opposition is the best variant for the PLDM, journalist Ion Terguta stated in the program “Place for dialogue” on Radio Moldova station, IPN reports.

“There are now two possible developments in the case of the PLDM: the party will remain in the opposition in the best case or will disappear as a political organization in the worst case. The PLDM will not have representatives in the Government. The party should have come with new ideas and people. It is now too late,” said the journalist.

Ion Terguta considers the PLDM faces such a situation because it acted defensively. “The PLDM was very defensive. It didn’t want to assume particular risks. Inventiveness was needed. A connection between the protest movement and the PLDM appeared at a certain moment. But this party didn’t want to take this chance,” he stated.

As to the refusal of Iurie Leanca’s group to join the new parliamentary majority, Ion Terguta said such a decision was taken because Leanca will not be nominated for premiership. “These complicated political games didn’t make Leanca to become Premier. Most probably, Leanca’s PPEM will strengthen its positions on the right segment,” he said.

The journalist believes the future Government will be unable to cope with the challenges. “The situation is very difficult. The new coalition will not be able to overcome the challenges faced by the country. The budget deficit is the biggest problem and it is expected that the fiscal legislation will be toughened up and a number of freedoms will be limited,” he stated.
